About us
REGISTERED BAHAMIAN CHARITY

Bahamas Hope Challenge, a registered Charity in The Commonwealth of The Bahamas, was formally constituted in 2006 as Ride for Hope Bahamas. The organization’s flagship fundraiser is “The Bahamas Hope Challenge” – now a sixteen year old bike/run/walk-a- thon held Eleuthera in the spring time in The Bahamas. The event includes a weekend full of events, live music, great camaraderie and impeccable weather. Without exception, every dollar raised by participants is applied to programme support.

Bahamas Hope Foundation, a registered 501(c)3 Charity in the United States, was formally constituted in 2009. It was established for the purpose of raising money to support initiatives related to health, wellness and human development in The Bahamas. Its designated focus is cancer.

OUR FOUNDERS

Bahamas Hope Challenge was co-founded by Stephen Holowesko and Susan Holowesko Larson. They tell the story that Stephen was doing a number of charity rides in the U.S. and Susan threw out the challenge to do one in and for the benefit of their own country, The Bahamas. The agreement between brother and sister was Stephen would ride and raise money and Susan would organize the event. Stephen and Susan emphasize the success of the Bahamas Hope Challenge is largely due to the energy and support they received from their family enlisted to help and to a core group of corporate sponsors who believed in the potential of the event from day one and underwrote all event expenses. One hundred and five riders participated in the inaugural event in 2006. To date, 4,000 cyclists have raised nearly $4 million to fight cancer in The Bahamas.
